ABOUT WOODLAND

Emerging from the misty old-growth forests of America's Pacific northwest, Woodland is a mythic world fusion ensemble featuring the songcraft of guitarist Emilio Miller-Lopez and singer/harpist Kelly Miller-Lopez. For more than nine years, Woodland has been enchanting audiences throughout the US and Europe with an ornate blend of original and traditional melodies woven with meaningful bardic poetry. The band's music features a variety of folk and electric instrumentation, combining ambient and acoustic, with the signature improvisational energy of an authentic west coast festival jam band. Woodland co-produces large-scale themed events which are immersive concert experiences featuring vibrant lightshows, theatrical dance performances and live musical rituals led by their seasonal poetic invocations.

Seasons in Elfland explores the seasons and the patterns of nature as a map of the experience of the soul. The Shadows album is part one of a two part musical endeavor, which will also include Seasons in Elfland: Light which will be released in 2011 on the Winter Solstice. The Shadows release begins thematically on the European festival date of Samhain, or November 1st, and features songs leading the listener through Autumn and Winter, and ending on Spring Equinox just before the old world festival of Beltane on May 1st. The Light album will feature songs with Spring and Summer themes leading from May 1st towards Autumn, and finding completion just on the Fall Equinox. Together the two albums explore the entire seasonal cycle from the eternal perspective of the otherworldly realm of Elfland.
