Welcome to Woodland’s SECRETS TOLD Kickstarter
For the last two years we have been writing and developing a new conceptual album called SECRETS TOLD, which is a musical exploration of the myths, lore and legends of the ancient world. Now in the final months of production, we invite you to share in the climax of our creative and spiritual journey as we prepare to release the latest album this Summer at Faerieworlds. The album is a rich, poetic tapestry that includes 13 tracks of original music featuring instruments from around the world including harp, hurdy gurdy, overtone flutes, cello, six and twelve string guitars, violin, bouzouki and a variety of drums and percussion instruments. Thanks to you, our Woodland community, the album will be an “independent” release, with Woodland retaining full creative control of the music and art, as well as direction over the reproduction, which will be a “Zero Carbon” eco-disc package.
On Friday November 9th Woodland will return to FaerieCon for the first time as a full band since 2010. The band will be opening for Norways Martina Kraft with a full length set that will include new material from their upcoming album SECRETS TOLD, as well as many classic Woodland songs. An American contemporary of renowned European artists like Faun (who contributed to their most recent album “Seasons In Elfland: Shadows”) and Omnia, Woodland evokes a mystery both playful and dark, taking a trip though the unseen realms buoyed by the secret-spilling harmony vocals of Kelly and Emilio Miller-Lopez. The band’s music features a variety of folk and electric instrumentation, combining ambient and acoustic for an experience of potent live improvisational energy.
Woodland’s new album, “Secrets Told” is a musical journey into mediterranean and classical themes, exploring the folk religion of the old world and the ancient mythos of southern Europe. With the romantic cello sounds of Adam Hurst, and the lyrically rich harmony vocal of Kelly and Emilio Miller-Lopez, the music is emotionally evocative and rich in symbolism and poetic meaning. The band will highlight the new work in their live set, which will draw upon a the musical talents of a potent lineup of Woodland musical collaborators old and new.

Woodland is back! For the first time since spring of 2011, Woodland returned to the stage with a powerful opening performance on Sunday evening at FaerieCon West before Faun. Introduced with glowing words by Robert Gould of Imaginosis, the band played a set of bardic songs spanning their years, including an a cappella introduction by Kelly Miller-Lopez of WB yeats faerie poem The Song of Wandering Angus. The set then proceeded with an array of other lyrical pieces including Cap and Bells, Thief of Sorrows, House of the Wind and The Joyful Sorrow.
Kelly and Emilio closed the set as a duet with the Hunter/Garcia composition for the Grateful Dead, Mountains of the Moon.
